What in the world is this?
This is (or will be someday) my complete baseball card collection, documented and scanned.
This seems like a lot of work, why are you doing this?
These little pieces of cardboard occupied a lot my time as a child. I started for selfish reasons wanting to know what secrets were contained in the numerous boxes that had been untouched for years. After a little thought I decied that I had enough knowledge of PHP and MYSQL to code this site. I feel imporant to document these cards as, at least in my mind, they are peices of history.
Where do you get all the images?
I scan the front and back of every card.
Can I use your scans?
I'd be more than happy to let most anybody use my scans for non-commercial purposes, please
contact me before doing so as I'd like to know how they are being used. Please link back to the site if you do use the scans.
When will it be done?
I'm about halfway through my original collection so it'll be a while before I'm done. I do plan on growing my collection after that point so this project could run indefinitely!
How many cards are there?
I don't know for sure, I estimate maybe 10,000 though. See the counter on the main page, it lists all the stats for what's currently in the database.
Are you selling these cards?
No, this is for informational purposes only.
But I really really want *insert card here*.
If I have a duplicate I may consider selling/trading but I'd much rather trade. Please see the warning below.
Would you be willing to trade?
Sure, send me a list of what you want and what you'd be willing to send. I'll take just about any card from any era as long as it's not in the collection. A few words of caution, my cards were/are not always kept in the best conditions and many are damaged to a certain point. I do my best to have nice cards but I collected mostly as a kid and moved several times. I'm willing to send photos of any card you'd like before the trade.
Your card conditions look funny, what are they based upon?
They are completely subjective and are in no way represtative of how a professional would judge a cards condition. I actually kind of regret including condition now because I think it's irrelevant to the project.
Since you run a website about baseball cards you must certainly know the value of my card or want to buy them?
Nope, I do not. I suggest to anybody who is looking for card values that if you visit a local card shop. They are usually run by very nice people and can give you a much better answer as to card values.
