| Dennis Cook had a long career as a journeyman starter and then reliever in the major leagues. He pitched 15 years for nine different teams (two of which he played for twice). He was an unusually good hitter for a pitcher, with a .264 lifetime batting average. He was also unusually good in post-season play, pitching 16 1/3 innings without giving up any earned runs, and with 16 strikeouts. He played in the 1997 World Series with the Florida Marlins and the 2000 World Series with the New York Mets. Although a member of the 2002 Anaheim Angels, he did not appear in the 2002 World Series which they won.
