| Jeff Conine played first base, left field, right field and third base during his career. His defense at first was slightly above average and average in the outfield. He is the only player to have played in both World Series won by the Florida Marlins, in 1997 and 2003. He had been reacquired by the Marlins on August 31, 2003, a few hours before the deadline to be eligible for post-season rosters, after third baseman Mike Lowell had his wrist broken by a Hector Almonte fastball earlier in the day. He played regularly in left field down the stretch, with rookie Miguel Cabrera moving to third base, and was one of Florida's best hitters in the post-season, batting .458 in the NLCS against the Chicago Cubs and .333 in the World Series against the New York Yankees.
